When renting an AVIS car the client will be asked to accept or decline any of the optional coverage's or insurances. If the customer initials to accept the coverage's and/or the insurances the client will NOT be reimbursed.

 

CONDITIONS

Currency: U.S. Dollars (US$).

 

Minimum age: 25 years.

 

Surcharge for minors of 25 years (between 21 - 24 years): US$ 27.- per day.
Confirmed customers under 25 year old (21-24) using a prepay voucher are exempt to pay underage fee. (Not applicable to rentals with net rates).

 

Minimum age: H, L, P, S, V, Z: 25 years.


Rates include unlimited mileage.
If the car is returned with less gas than when rented there will be a refueling charge. (except when included in the rate)

Debit Cards: IMPORTANT; Are not accepted as deposit. Since credit cards issued in Latinamerica do not allow credits the deposits cannot be reimbursed.

 

Driving License/Passport: At the moment the Rental Agreement is opened, a valid Driver´s License  and the driver´s passport must be presented. The License should have been issued at the country of origin. In those cases where an International Driver´s License is presented, it must be presented with the Driver´s License of the country of origin of the driver and the driver´s passport. International Driving Licence together with the Driving License of the country of origing.

 

Grace Period: 29 minute grace period. At 30 minutes, 3/4th the daily rate plus a penny is charged. At 90 minutes, a full day is charged.
 

Prepayment: The rental amount, must be paid before the departure, using AVIS vouchers. A credit card will be required at time of rental for a deposit to cover charges not included in the prepaid voucher, i.e., fuel, accident insurances, one-way rentals, taxes, etc.
All the additional charges, not included in the prepaid voucher, will be charged at time of rental.

Smoke Free Cars: by October 1st, 2009 AVIS fleet in USA and Canada will be 100% smoke free. Applicable to every make and every model. A sticker will be placed on every vehicle tat will remind all travellers that every vehicle in AVIS fleet is fresh, clean and odor free. To make good on our smoke-free promise, we have implemented new inspection process and will assess a cleaning fee of up to US$ 250.- if the vehicle is returned and it smells of smoke. AVIS reserves the right to refuse to rent to a customer and an additional driver if they do not meet the AVIS minimum age requirement, present a valid driver's license and an AVIS honored charge card or cash rental qualification at the time of rental.

 

MANDATORY CHARGES

Extra charge for drop off after the time agreed in contract: In addition to the amount charged by AVIS for droppin off the car after the time agreed in contract, AVIS will charge a fee of US$ 10.- plus tax per day (starting 7 hours after the agreed drop off hour).

Airport Surcharge: This charge is applicable at most of the airports rental locations. It varies according to the car group and is applied to the total amount. This surcharge is only for rentals starting at airports locations.
 

California:

The Customer Facility Charge at Los Ángeles International Airport (LAX) is US$ 10.- per rental.

The Customer Facility Charge at Fresno Air Terminal (FAT) is US$ 10.- per rental.

The Concession Recovery Fee at San Diego International Airport (SAN) is 11.11%.

The Transportation and Facilities Fee at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) US$ 15.- per day.

 

Florida:

The Rental Car Facility Fee, at Miami Airport (MIA) is US$ 4.- per day.

The Concession Recovery Fee at Pensacola Regional Airport (PNS) is US$ 3.60 per rental.
The Customer Facility Charge at Orlando Airport (
MCO) is US$ 2.50.- per day.

 

Georgia: The Customer Facility Charge at Augusta Airport (AGS) is US$ 2.- per day plus tax.

 

Massachussets: The Concession Recovery Fee at Hyannis Airport (HYA), is 10%.

 

Michigan:

The Customer Facility Fee at Kent County Airport (GRR) is US$ 3.- per day plus tax, for the first 10 days of the rental.
The Customer Facility Charge at Muskegon Airport (MKG) is US$ 1.- per day plus tax,

 

Minnesota: The Concession Recovery Fee at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and Signature Flight (M1M) is 11.11%.

 

Missouri: The Concession Recovery Fee at Kansas City Airport (MCI), is 10%.

 

South Carolina: The Customer Facility Charge at Charleston International Airport (CHS) is US$ 3.50 per day.

 

Texas:

The Bus Recovery Fee at George Bush Intercontinental Airport of Huston (IAH), is US$ 4.49 per rental, plus tax.

The Concession Recovery Fee at William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) is 11%.

The Customer Transportation Charge at Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport (DFW) is US$ 2.- per day, plus tax.

 

Tennessee: The Concession Recovery Fee at Memphis Airport (MEM) is 11.11%.

 

Virginia:

The Concession Recovery Fee at Washington Dulles Airport (DCA), is 11.11%.

The Customer Facility Charge at Lynchburg Airport (LYH) is US$ 2.- per day.

 

Washington: The Customer Facility Charge at Seattle - Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is US$ 4.- per day.
 

State Tax: Varies by state and city.


California: Vehicle License Fee (VLF):
Groups: A - B,  US$ 0.07 per day.
Groups: C - D - E - F - G, US$ 0.10 per day.
Other
Groups: US$ 0.21 per day.

 

Nevada:

The Government Service Fee is 6%.

The Vehicle License Fee (VLF): is US$ 1.58 per day.

 

Texas: The Vehicle Title, Registration and Property Tax is US$ 1.95 per day.

 

Local Tax: Cities within the same state, may also have different local taxes.

Child Safety Seat: US$ 13.- per day, US$ 65.- per week (5-7 days), up to a maximum of US$ 65.- per rental plus tax.

One Way: If the seat is not returned at the same location where it was requested, a charge of US$ 15.- plus tax will apply. No charges in Florida.

Security deposit: A deposit of US$ 50.- plus tax will be required.

Loss or damage: A charge of US$ 50.- plus tax will apply.
 

NY State Law requires all children under the age of 4 to be retrained in a federally approved child safety seat and requires all back seat passengers under the age of 7 restrained in an appropriate child restraint system.

Roadside Safety Net: The cost for Roadside Safety Net is only US$ 5.99.- per day or US$ 41.93.- per week..
   Provides roadside assistance at no charge in addition to the daily fee for: lost keys and remote entry devices lock outs, flat tire Service,
   towing, (if vehicle inoperable) jump starts, and emergency fuel delivery (up to 3 gallons).
   Engine Won’t Start/ Dead Battery: When a customer vehicle will not start or appears to have a dead battery, a service provider is to be   
   dispatched through the customer contacting our Emergency Roadside Service number at 800-354-2847 for a jump-start.
   Customer Lock Out: When a customer is locked out of their vehicle, a service provider is to be dispatched through the customer       
   contacting our Emergency Roadside Service number at 800.354.2847 who will assist the customer with re-entry into the rental vehicle.
   Customer Lost Keys:  When a customer loses their rental keys, they are to contact our Emergency Roadside Service number at   
   800.354.2847. ERS assistance will dispatch a Service Provider to assist the customer.
   Fuel Delivery: Should a customer have the need for fuel delivery, they are to contact our Emergency Roadside Service number at
   800.354.2847. ERS assistance will dispatch a Service Provider to deliver fuel to the customer.

   FLAT TIRE ASSISTANCE / TIRE REPLACEMENT
  
For services rendered for flat tire assistance and/or tire replacement, the vehicle will undergo a maintenance review at which time   
   customer liability will be assessed.
   If determined customer is liable, our Vehicle Damage Claims Department will assign that fee.
   Information about Emergency Road Service can be found in Wizard Help at the 101 RA CHECK OUT, 201 RA CHECK IN, and 206
   VEHICLE EXCHANGE screen names.
   Roadside SafetyNet COUNTER PRODUCT
  
Roadside SafetyNet is an optional roadside assistance product for a worry free rental. It covers items that are not normally
   included in the rental.


  
Additional Driver: Minimum age 25 years. An authorized additional driver's charge will be applied in most AVIS locations. It may be a 
   daily charge or an amount for the entire rental.

The charge is US$ 10.- per day, US$ 50.- per rental. Exept in New York, Nevada and California.

New York: US$ 3.- per day.

Nevada: US$ 5.- per day.

California: No charges.

 

In this state as well as in many others, there will be no charge if the additional driver is either spouse or belongs to the same company of the renter, as long as they appear in the contract.

LDW, ALI, PAI and PEP: Can be purchased at the time of rental (except when included in the rate).

ONE WAY RENTALS

In many areas, AVIS allows to return the car to a different location than the pick up point.

 

There are no ONE WAY charges when a car is picked up and dropped off in the same State in: California, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Ohio or Virginia.

 

There are no ONE WAY charges for most groups, when the car is rented in the State of California and is dropped off in the State of Nevada. Please consult.

POLICIES REGARDING TAKING CARS INTO MEXICO

U.S. Border Locations:Before taking vehicles into Mexico, AVIS must be notified that the vehicle is going to cross into Mexico. Each USA border city has different policies regarding taking cars into Mexico.

( * ) Reservation must be booked with a corporate discount number. Any rate booked applies, including corporate rate.

 

El Paso: Vehicle can be taken 25 miles across the border for business purposes only; however, a letter of authorization can be purchased from AVIS for US$ 10.- to be able to travel further into Mexico. Mexican insurance must be purchased for US$ 21.- per day, US$ 37.- per 2 days, US$ 53.- per 3 days, etc.

 

Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Harlingen, Laredo and McAllen: Vehicle can be taken in the “Free Trade Zone” (approximately 20 miles across the border). No specialty vehicles allowed. Mexican insurance must be purchased for US$ 25.- per day.

 

San Antonio: No vehicles allowed into Mexico from the San Antonio rental location.

 

Phoenix, Tucson, Burbank, Los Angeles, San Diego, Ontario and Santa Ana (Orange County): The vehicle may be driven as far south as the 28th Parallel (the city of Guerrero Negro) in the Baja Peninsula or within the Free Trade Zone. Mexican insurance must be purchased for US$ 30.- per day for car groups A, B, C, D, E, G, F & W and US$ 40.- per day for car groups P & V.

Weather fax: At many U.S. locations, this helpful weather guide will provide you with the current day's weather as well as the projected forecast for the next five days for the city in which you are. It also shows possible flight delays and gives you the regional and national weather forecast. This feature is brought on behalf of AVIS by The Weather Source.

Take your Rental Agreement jacket and proceed to the
AVIS bus. In Canada and in some U.S. locations, bus service is not available; you can walk straight from the counter to your car.

Give the Rental Agreement folder to the bus driver, who will take you to your car.

Show your Rental Agreement to the security guard at the exit gate (U.S. Only)

devolucion Returning the Car: Follow the signs to AVIS car return when entering the airport lot.

Take the car to the designated car return area. Enter your mileage and fuel level on the back of your Rental Agreement jacket.

Give the Rental Agreement to the AVIS agent. Any additional charges, such as sales tax, fuel service fee, additional driver charges, etc., will be charged on your credit card or you may pay in cash. The agent will give you your copy of the Rental Agreement. In the U.S., an AVIS bus will take you to your designated airline terminal.

Each brochure provides important information on local/state driving rules, speed limits, seat belt requirements, police emergency numbers, suggested radio stations for news, traffic and weather reports and other valuable road safety information.

In Canada this guide will be found hanging from the rear-view mirror of your rental car.

Multi-lingual rental agreement inserts are available at all major gateway locations.

 

AVIS "Vehicle Operating Guide": In each car, at participating AVIS locations, you will find a "Vehicle Operating Guide" in the glove compartment, with information on how to operate your vehicle. This guide is to be used as reference only.

Renters can easily find the headlights, hood release, wipers, cruise control and other driving features.

 

celular Other "AVIS Cares" services: Portable Cellular Phones are available in 33 states in key cities and airports. These units are fully transportable, allowing constant communication to the client. A major credit card is required for their rental, and they must be returned where it was rented.

Anti-lock brakes and dual air bags are features that can be found in most of the AVIS fleet that offer more protection to the vehicle occupants.

Child safety seats are available for rent at all key AVIS facilities.

Most AVIS vehicles are equipped with Daytime Running Lights. The lights are automatically activated when the car is started and will raise to full power at sunset. Daytime Running Lights increase safety by making the vehicle highly visible to other drivers. 

All AVIScars are completely inspected before each rental to insure safety and satisfaction.

If your vehicle is bumped from behind, do not stop on the roadway or roadside ditch. Drive to the nearest public area and call for police assistance.

If you are advised by another driver of problems with your vehicle, don't stop until you reach a service or well populated area.

Don't stop if you are flashed with white lights. U.S. emergency vehicles have red/ red and blue flash lights.

Do not pick up any person form the road under any circumstances.

Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) is against the law and considered a very serious offense in the U.S. and Canada. We recommend that you do not drink at all when driving.

Remember that seat belts are mandatory in all U.S. States and Canadian provinces.

If someone on the road indicates for assistance, do not stop.

If you are lost, proceed to a  public lighted area, such as a gas station, for assistance.

Keep the doors and windows locked at all times

Keep out of sight all valuable things (i.e., put them in the glove compartment or trunk)

Park only at a lighted area. Always check the interior and exterior of your vehicle before you enter.
