GENERAL CONDITIONS IN ST. MAARTEN

When renting an AVIS car the client will be asked to accept or decline any of the optional coverage's or insurances. If the customer initials to accept the coverage's and/or the insurances the client will NOT be reimbursed.

 

CONDITIONS

TAX: 8%.


Reserves: Reservation must be placed with AVIS at least 48 hours prior from departure from the country.

 

Minimum Rental: 3 days.

 

Minimum/Maximum Age: 21 years / None.

(Additional charge for minor driver between 21 and 24 years).

 

Driver's License: Valid drivers license from country of origin. 

 

Credit Card: An International credit card accepted by AVIS will be required at the time you collect your vehicle; said credit card will be blocked to be used as a guarantee and to cover any extra charge not included in the Voucher, such as, gas, insurance deductible, etc.


Debit Cards: IMPORTANT; Are not accepted as deposit. Since credit cards issued in Latinamerica do not allow credits the deposits cannot be reimbursed.
 

ADDITIONAL CHARGES

Loss damage waiver (LDW): In the event of loss or damages to the AVIS car, the renter will be required to pay all cost toward the repair of the vehicle. This requirement will be partially waived to a deductible, if the renter elects to purchase the Loss damage waiver. The renter will be responsible for the full cost of the damage if the car is driven in violation of the rental agreement, is abused or driven recklessly or while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Group A: US$ 20.- per day.

Deductible:

Group M: US$ 1000.-

Rest of the groups: US$ 500.-

 

Personal accident insurance (PAI): US$ 5.- per day. Provides accidental death and medical expenses benefits to the renter and all passengers in the AVIS car. This may be purchased for a nominal fee. 

In case of death and disability: It covers up to a maximum of US$ 16,650.-

In case of medical expenses: It covers up to a maximum of US$ 830.-.

 

TP: Theft Coverage.

Group A: US$ 5.- per day,

Rest of the groups: US$ 6.- per day.

Deductible:

Group M: US$ 1000.-

Rest of the groups: US$ 500.- 

 

Airport Fee:

Queen Juliana Airport - SXM (Dutch Side): US$ 15.- per rental.

 
 Additional driver: All additional drivers have to be registered at time of rental and must meet AVIS qualification standards. 

Dutch Side: US$ 6.- per driver, per day, up to a maximum of US$ 60.- per driver, per rental.

 

Surcharge for minors drivers between 21-24 years:

Dutch Side: US$ 7.- per minor driver, per day, up to a maximum of US$ 70.- per minor driver, per rental.

 

Refueling service: A refueling service charge will be incurred if a car is returned with less fuel than when rented.

 

ONE WAYS: Allowed between AVIS locations with a charge of US$ 35.- in Dutch side. The cars can not been driven outside St. Maarten.
