When renting an AVIS car the client will be asked to accept or decline any of the optional coverage's or insurances. If the customer initials to accept the coverage's and/or the insurances the client will NOT be reimbursed.

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Local Currency: MEP.

 

TAX:

Cabo San Lucas, Cancún, Ciudad Juárez, Cozumel, La Paz, Playa del Carmen, San José del Cabo y Tijuana: 10%.

Resto del país: 15%.

 

Driver's License: A valid driver’s licence issued in the country of residence must be produced at the time of rental, supported by the passport when the licence does not include a photo and for foreigners. The licence must be at least 1 year of age. Licence written in non - roman alphabet must be supported by an international driver’s licence.

 

Minimum Age: 21 years.
Underage Fee will apply for drivers 21-24 years of age, MEP 390.- per day for car groups J and L. MEP 325.- per day for all other car groups.

 

Maximum Age: None.

 

Minimum Rental: 3 days.

 

Credit Card: An International credit card accepted by AVIS will be required at the time of car pick-up, except for Diners Club, which will be blocked for US$ 2000.- (if the renter does not purchase the LDW coverage or for the rental value plus 30% if he/she purchases the LDW coverage), as guarantee and in order to cover any additional charge not included in the Voucher, such as gas, optional charges, etc.

 Debit Cards: IMPORTANT; Are not accepted as deposit. Since credit cards issued in Latinamerica do not allow credits the deposits cannot be reimbursed.

MANDATORY CHARGES

Airport surcharge:

Chihuahua, Ciudad Juárez, Hermosillo, León, Monterrey, Morelia, Puerto Vallarta, Saltillo, Tijuana, Torreón, Veracruz and Zacatecas: 10%

Cabo San Lucas, Guadalajara, Mérida, San José del Cabo and Tampico: 11%

Acapulco: 12%

Cancún, Cozumel and México DF: 13%

 

Provincial Tax: MEP 50.-

Except for: Tampico and Veracruz.

OPTIONAL CHARGES

Additional Driver: US$ 5.- per day plus tax, up to a maximum of US$ 25.- plus tax per week (6-7 days) per driver.Free of charge for the main driver’s spouses and domestic partners that may be able to show so at the time of rental.


 Child Safety Seat: MEP 156.- per day, up to a maximum of MEP 780.- per rental.

One Way: MEP 195.-

Damage or loss: MEP 650.-

Available in: Cancún, Cozumel, Guadalajara, Hermosillo, Mérida, México DF, Monterrey, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Vallarta, San José del Cabo, Tijuana.
 Advanced reservation: 72-hour advance notice.
 

Surfboard Holders: US$ 5.- per day plus tax.
One Way: US$ 20.- plus tax.
 Available in: San José del Cabo.

 

Satellite Navigator (GPS): US$ 9.95 per day plus tax and airport surcharge.

Available in: Guadalajara, México DF, Monterrey.

 

Pick-up and Drop-off outside AVIS locations:

Cancún: The renter must phone at (52) 998-883-1500 and is taken to the nearest AVIS location.

León (L8B): City Express Hotel, Fiesta Americana Hotel, Fiesta Inn León, Holiday Inn Poliforum Hotel, Holiday Inn Silao Hotel, Howard Johnson Poliforum Hotel, La Nueva Estancia Hotel, Real de Minas Bajio Hotel.

San José del Cabo: Available at hotels in the Cabo San Lucas area.

 

Refueling service: A refueling service charge will be incurred if a car is returned with less fuel than when rented.

ONE WAYS

National One Way: Free of charge within the same city.

Exception: A vehicle rented at the Cancún Airport and dropped off at the Hotel Area will be charged with MEP 100.- plus TAX.

One Way not available from/to Cozumel.

Car transfer by Ferry at the Renter’s expense.

 

Special Conditions: A car rented in Mexico cannot be crossed or returned to Central America or South America.

Cars rented in Ciudad de Juarez, Chihuahua and Tijuana can be driven into the United States but must be returned to Mexico.

INSURANCE AND COVERAGE

LDW: The purchase of this insurance exempts the customer from all financial responsibility for AVIS cars’ damages or losses resulting from an accident or a robbery. If the renter does not accept the LDW, he will be responsible for the whole value of the car, in accordance with the market.

Groups A, B, C: US$ 19.99 per day plus tax.
 Groups D, E, F, I, K, O, P: US$ 24.99 per day plus tax.
Groups G, H, J, L, M, N: US$ 29.99 per day plus tax.

If the LDW is not accepted, US$ 2000.- of the Renter’s Credit Card will be blocked.

 

ALI: US$ 11.99 per day. Increases the civil responsibility up to MEP 5.000.000.- (approx US$ 500.000.-) as long as the client drives inside México.

 

PAI: US$ 3.99 per day, covers a maximum of MEP 25.000.- per person or a maximum of MEP 100.000.- for an accident. Provides accidental death and medical expenses benefits to the renter and all passengers in the AVIS car. This may be purchased for a nominal fee.
