GENERAL CONDITIONS IN CHILE

When renting an AVIS car the client will be asked to accept or decline any of the optional coverage's or insurances. If the customer initials to accept the coverage's and/or the insurances the client will NOT be reimbursed.

 

CONDITIONS

Local Currency: Chilean Pesos (CHP).

 

Local TAX: 19% (IVA).

 

Reservations: Reservation must be placed with AVIS at least 48 hours prior from departure from the country.

 

Minimum: 1 day.

 

Minimum/maximum Age: 22 years / none.

 

Driver's License: A valid license from country of origin will be required, together with passport if it does not have photograph. Non roman alphabet licenses will have to be presented with an international license.

 

Credit Card: An International credit card accepted by AVIS will be required at the time you collect your vehicle; said credit card will be blocked to be used as a guarantee and to cover any extra charge not included in the Voucher, such as, gas, insurance deductible, etc.


Debit Cards: IMPORTANT; Are not accepted as deposit. Since credit cards issued in Latinamerica do not allow credits the deposits cannot be reimbursed.
 

Participant Cities: Antofagasta, Calama, Concepción, Copiapo, Iquique, La Serena, Puerto Montt, Punta Arena, Santiago de Chile and Temuco.

 

ADDITIONAL CHARGES

Elimination of Responsibility by damages or loss of the vehicle (LDW): The cost of the LDW is US$ 15.- per day plus TAX. It releases you of any financial responsibility (with the exception of the indicated amount  like  responsibility in the front of your rent contract) by loss or damage of the AVIS car due to a collition, theft, vandalism or any other cause, as long as it is within the terms of the AVIS contract. If LDW is not accepted , you will be responsible for all lost or the damages of the AVIS car due to theft, collition, vandalism or any other cause that is not a specified in your rent contract.

The LDW does not cover theft of radio and/or car accessories, smashed/broken windshields, damaged tyres that occurred during the rental period. In order to hold customers harmless of this financial responsibility they may acquire an additional coverage at destination whose cost amounts to 1500 Chilean Pesos- plus TAX per day (US$2).
Deductible: In case of robbery or damage, the customer shall be held harmless of any responsibility, except in Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales, where a deductible of  US$ 680 plus TAX will be applied to ALL groups in case of collision and/or damage. A deductible amount of US$ 1.750 plus TAX  will be applied in case of overturning.
For the rest of Chile LDW: In case of theft of the vehicle,  there is a deductible amount of  U$S 1219.- + TAX applicable to all groups and/or categories. In case of damage there is a deductible amount of  U$S 813.- + TAX only applicable to groups M, O, I, L.


 Extension of Additional Liability Insurance (ALI): US$8.- plus TAX or 5000 Chilean Pesos plus TAX per day. It covers US$ 100.000.- Valid for all locations in Chile, except for Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales.

 

Crossing to Argentina: Not allowed.

 

Delivery service at address: US$ 6.- plus TAX.

 

Airport surcharge: 5 % applicable for all rentals with pick up in Airports for Chile.

 Extra time charges: The additional hours will be charged from the third hour on. Clients will have a two hour free time in their rentals.

 

Chauffeur service: (Minimum charge 1 day) US$ 50.- plus TAX (8 working hours). Each additional hour: US$ 6.-
 

Traffic Charges: Applies only in Santiago, CHP 3950.- per day plus TAX on all vehicles.

 

SACA: additional coverage for other items, for example; rearview mirrors, CHP 1500.- (US$ 3.00 aprox), plus TAX, daily.

 

Child safety seat: US$ 10.- per day, US$ 60.- per week.

 

Ski rack: US$ 10.- per day, US$ 60.- per week.

 

Emergency phone: 2-690-1382 from 6 am to 10:30 pm.

 

All groups are not available at all cities.
