GENERAL CONDITIONS IN ITALY

When renting an AVIS car the client will be asked to accept or decline any of the optional coverage's or insurances. If the customer initials to accept the coverage's and/or the insurances the client will NOT be reimbursed.

 

CONDITIONS

Local Currency: Euros (€).


 Local Tax: 21%.

 

Driver’s License: It is mandatory for all non-residents in Europe to bear the International Driver’s License which must be presented with the license of the country of origin. The latter must be at least one year old.

The International Driver’s License must be submitted along with the license of the country of origin before the police, the municipal authorities, etc. whenever required. Should the same be not held, it may result in severe fines and penalties that may reach the car seizure.

 

Minimum Age: 25 years.

A, B, C, D, E, G, K, M groups: 21 years, with driver`s license must be 2 year old.
(additional charge, to be paid at destination, for drivers between 21 and 25 years old).

 Debit Cards: IMPORTANT; Are not accepted as deposit. Since credit cards issued in Latinamerica do not allow credits the deposits cannot be reimbursed.

 

Credit Card: An International credit card accepted by AVIS will be required at the time you collect your vehicle; said credit card will be blocked to be used as a guarantee and to cover any extra charge not included in the Voucher, such as, gas, insurance deductible, etc.

 

Important

1. Groups H, L, P, O: Requires 2 credit cards.

2. Groups I, K, L, M: Are available for this kind of renting.

No show fees apply. They will be charged to your credit card in case of cancellations suffered within 48 hours as from the rental starting date.

 

Drop off out of time: 29 minutes.

 

Rental Extension: A day covers a period of 24 hours, if the rent is extended, the rental office must be contacted to extend the insurance coverage.

 

Customer Assistance: In case of emergency, toll free 24 hours 800-801-180 for cars, for vans 800-002-191, out of Italy 39 02 661 655 27.

MANDATORY CHARGES

Airport Surcharge: 16% on the all charges of the Rental Agreement, including optional charges, one way domestic and international charges.

 

Rail Station Fee: 8% applicable on all rentals starting at Railway Stations offices.

 

Vehicle Registration Fee: € 2.05 per day plus tax, up to a maximum of 18 days plus tax.

 

Surcharge for minors from 21 to 25 years: € 15.00 per day plus tax, up to a maximum of 15 days plus tax.

 

The purchase of the TP insurance, is mandatory for all rentals.

 

OPTIONAL CHARGES

Additional Driver: € 7.00 per day plus tax, max charge 15 days.

(The additional driver must be 25 years old, holding a valid driving license of at least 1year  and a credit card).

 

Child Safety Seat: € 20.50 per rental plus tax, until 12 years. (max 3 days/ 61.50€)
 

Booster seat: €6.00 per day (max 3 days/ 18.00€)

 

Ski Rack: € 32.91 per rental plus tax.

 

Snow Chains: € 42.- per rental plus tax.

 

Satellite Navigator: € 12.- per day plus tax, maximum € 120.- per rental plus tax.
 Damage or loss of Navigator: € 500.- plus tax.

One Way of Satellite Navigator:

Check in/Check out - Downtown/Airport same city or vv: No charge.

Check in/Check out in different cities: € 19.36 plus tax.

Check in/Check out Italian Mainland/Sicily or vv: € 25.82 plus tax.

 

Fuel: €15,00.- per rental

Is not included in rates. When returning a vehicle without the same amount of fuel as when rented, a service charge will be added to equal the cost of fuel needed to complete the tank. There is an option to buy the service at the beginning of the rent.

 

Pick up and drop-off out of office hours: Only available from Airports and Train stations at € 51.65 plus tax. In case of no show, the same charge will be paid.

 

Pick up and delivery at place of residence: Within the city limits € 18.- plus tax; outside the city limits € 1.20 plus tax with a minimum Km. charge of  €18.- plus tax for the service.

No-show fee: Cancellations must be made with 24-hour advance notice prior to the vehicle pick-up, in the event of non-compliance with this requirement, the following charge must be paid:

Groups I, L and P: € 103.29 plus tax.

Groups K, M and O: € 154.94 plus tax.

 

Administrative expenses:

In case of non-payment of highway toll, a charge of € 42.00.- plus tax will be applied in addition to the highway toll.

In case of non-payment of fines, an administrative fee of € 42.00.- plus tax will be applied in addition to the fine payment.

ONE WAY RENTALS

Domestic

Groups B - H

Check in/Check out Downtown / Airport same city or the other way round: No Charge
Check in/Check out in different cities: €50.00 plus TAX
Check in/Check out Italian Mainland/Sicily or the other way round: € 70.00 plus TAX.
Check in/Check out Italian Mainland/Sardinia or vv: € 439.00 plus TAX.

For Vans there is a supplementary charge of € 1.03 plus TAX per kilometre for the distance between the pick up and the drop off office.

Vans may not be returned on the Isle of Sardinia.

International

Groups B - H

Refer to an AVIS location.
 

It is allowed to cross from any AVIS location in Italy to Slovenia. The following groups can cross at no additional charge: group B to group E and groups K and M.

Customers will be completely covered if Super CDW / TP are purchased.

 

Special conditions:
A car rented in Italy CANNOT enter Albany, Byelorussia, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Cisjodania, CROATIA, Slovak Republics, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Czech Republic, Rumania, Russia, Turkey, Serb Republic, ex Yugoslavia (Bosnia, etc) Ukraine, Moldavia and all Eastern countries, Africa, Malta, Cyprus and Middle East.

 

VW, Audi and Mercedes Benz cars are not allowed to enter South of Italy.

 

INSURANCE & COVERAGE

By purchising the coverage included in this rate, the driver is exempted of the financial responsability incurred due to partial or total damage or theft of the vehicle. In case of accident, the driver will pay only an administrative fee of € 42.00.-
In case of damage or theft of an AVIS vehicle:
If CDW/TP is declined: The amounts of table will be applied (Responsibility).
If CDW/TP is accepted: Only the deductible will applied.

The TP insurance is mandatory.
